So, you need Help on my Civil War Site?
Well, You have come to the right place!
WHAT IS THIS SITE??
This is site is a compilation of Links, Pictures, and addition information
for finding out information about the American Civil War. My intension
is to make researching this topic easy and fun to do. I feel I have sorted
things out to make your stay here as pleasent as possible. But I guess
since you are reading this, you need some sort of help.
How to Navigate this Site
This site is made up into three (3) frames or sections on your screen.
The Top, The Topics and the viewing screen. I have made it this way to
make it easier on you to search more then one topic faster. All you have
to do to make this work is "Point and Click." First click on
the a topic in the left frame that you want information on. After clicking
on that selection You will then get a listing of links that correspond
with that topic in the Right Frame (this one). You can then click on any
one of those links to contiune finding what you are looking for. If you
want to get another topic of links just click on another one in the left
frame. Please allow up to 45 seconds to 1 minute for a page to load after you click on a link.
A link that has a " " image on them is a site I would recommend you go to.
How to Capture Pictures
In case of you using AOL or Prodigy, their Web Browser doesn't have
an "easy way of saving pictures to your hard drive. In that case you
need to know the exact address of that picture, type it into the "URL
address" loading just that picture and then go File and then Save for the graphic. You can find the exact
address by looking at the "View Source" file that is available
from one of the pull-down menus. If you are using Netscape Navigator or
Internet Explorer it is 10x easier to save a picture you want to keep on
your hard drive. All you have to do is right-click the mouse (when it is
over the graphic you want). You should get a list of options, click on
the one that says "Save Picture As..." It will then prompt you
where to save it and that is that. I would advise that if you have AOL
to download the Netscape Navigator Browser
3.0 Standard. After doing that, I don't know how to so go into "Tech
Chat" and ask them how to use Navigator inplace of AOL's Internet
browser. I would highly recommend that.
How to Search
I feel the best way to make this site complete was to add easy-to-use
search engines. With this you can find additional links about your topic
along with people who posted there thoughts on newsgroups or bullentin
boards. Searching for a topic is easy. All you have to do is click on a
search engine (Yahoo, AltaVista etc.) and it will open up. They are arranged
in order from easiest to use (but have a smaller list of links) to a little
more difficult to use (but have more links). After getting that search
screen you can either click on one of the predefined search topics or search
for your own word and then hitting "Search."
Yahoo, Lycos, and Altavista search the Internet for sites. You may want to
try more then one because some have links that the other ones don't. If
you search with Dejanews you will search newsgroups. (letters people write, like a Bulleting Board)

the screen. All you have to do besides that is fill out the information.
